The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated Water Utility Companies to test some homes for lead and copper in the water. Customer participation is appreciated to help the water system comply with government regulations and monitor our water quality. While these contaminants are not in the source water, lead and copper contaminants can enter through corrosion of older household plumbing materials. Historically, our values for lead and copper are low and meet drinking water standards. In order for the water system to be able to comply with the EPA's requirements, it is now required under drinking water act to survey all customers asking that they complete and return the following survey.
