Lived experience in the work place

2020,  United Kingdom

We will be visiting all of the DWP branches and talking about our own experiences of living with complex needs and how this was used to support people with existing complex needs. The (LWPM) Lead Worker Peer Mentor Service was unique as it employed people that were open about their own lived experiences . The LWPM project worked with individuals experiencing multiple and complex needs, defined as Mental Health, Substance Misuse , Offending, and Homelessness. To be supported by the service, each client had to be experiencing at least 3 of the 4 complex needs listed. This service was hugely successful in supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs, with a significant social cost benefit. As part of the Continuation Strategy we are offering our experience, learning and evaluation to external agencies free of charge to encourage others to adopt the model for the benefit of those still experiencing multiple and complex needs.
