I am conducting this survey for the completion of my Honours Degree in Navigation and Maritime Science. This survey will gather data on the effectiveness of company social policies in improving seafarers' psychosocial well-being, identify gaps in current policies, and provide recommendations for future policy improvements. Your input is crucial in helping me achieve this goal.
Psychosocial well-being encompasses emotional, sociological, and collective well-being, and refers to the dynamic interconnection between psychological feelings and social and cultural experiences. Cultural experiences significantly shape individuals' psychosocial well-being, and can influence how individuals perceive and respond to social and psychological factors that can impact their well-being.
This survey is intended for seafarers who have worked on board a ship in the last 10 years (2013 to 2023). The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete and is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw at any time. Your participation is anonymous, and your responses will be kept confidential.
The survey sections will cover and explain the following policies: Career Transition and Outplacement Policy Mental Health and Well-being Policy Crew Welfare Policy Compensation and Benefits Policies The Family and Personal Life Support Policy The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
Please complete the survey with as much accuracy and detail as possible. Your responses will help garner a better understanding of the needs and concerns of seafarers, which would help advocate for better social policies for seafarers.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at Briana.white@students.plymouth.ac.uk if you have any questions or concerns.
